I Made An Order From Tomato Eden Seeds: My Honest Review

I Made An Order From Tomato Eden Seeds: My Honest Review

Hello everyone. So, I’ve got some exciting news: I’ve got an order in!

This isn't just any seed order, no.

This is a long-awaited order with super rare tomato seeds, that came all the way from Tomato Eden!

Let's review it!

Word on the "Street" Is...

I've heard about this company several times over the last year or two and finally decided to place an order. I kept seeing this website mentioned in tight knit seed trading groups on Facebook, tomato groups in particular. People had nothing but wonderful things to say! A tomato seed vendor that ships quality seeds, at a wonderful price, and it's not a mega-corporation? You bet I'm in!

I kept seeing mentions of affordability, reliability, incredible selections, and great service- the only thing that held me back was concerns over seeds clearing through customs. I used to order from another wonderful company in Europe, but it became tricky to order from them in the last few years. If you're in the USA and are worried about the seeds clearing through customs, don't be! Mine arrived safe and sound.

Shipping Time/Transit Time

This order came all the way from Latvia in Europe. It was shipped within a day or two, and it was making excellent time until it got to New York; that's where my package stalled- for close to two weeks! It sat in limbo for quite some time after clearing customs.

I give them 5/5 stars for shipping speed; as for the speed of the USPS? That's a problem to discuss on a different day!

Packaging

The seeds arrived in a bubble mailer, which is both important for seed quality and standard for most seed companies. Inside, the seed packets were very, very neatly taped to a piece of upcycled poster paper, and the seeds were wrapped neatly in a piece of decorative tissue paper, with stickers securing it. I loved the human touch within this package; someone took their time to neatly and carefully assemble these packets, as well as wrapping them as if they were a gift- very cute! You don't see this among the larger companies. It's nice to know that I ordered from a smaller company- you wouldn't have known from the sheer size of the website!

    Presentation was a 5/5, packaging was a 5/5!

Seed Cost, Affordability

Look, I'm going to be honest with you. These prices were dirt cheap- even without a coupon! I paid under $2 per pack, and we all know how rare it is to find seeds that cheap nowadays.

There is one thing I'd like to note, though: it's best to buy in bulk to drive your cost-per-packet down. You're going to pay for shipping (Somewhere between $6-8 if
I recall correctly) and there's going to be a fee for the currency conversion. Since I ordered over 30 packets, this cost was spread across a lot of varieties.

Super affordable! 5/5 for seed prices!

The Website/Ordering Process

The website has a few hiccups during browsing, I noticed a few misdirected links/buttons, but nothing problematic! It was very easy to browse and order from this website! Most of the website is in English, but I did have to do some occasional translating on some pages. Nothing major- just the occasional detail or description. There was a lot of information to be found, even on shipping practices before I ordered! User friendly interface, easy to browse, easy to shop, easy to check out.

Wonderful website! 5/5!

Inventory/Selection: INCREDIBLE!

Tomato Eden is a tomato collector's DREAM site! The amount of inventory is jaw dropping, especially when you take into consideration that it's largely tomato varieties. They also offer a few other items as well- I came across peppers and melons. I'm not sure exactly how many varieties they have, but I would not be surprised if it exceeds 1,000 by quite a bit.

Many of the tomatoes offered are very hard to find here in the US, making those varieties even more alluring. They also offer more common varieties that are easier to find here; such as Tennessee Suited. It's a little ironic that I, a native Tennessean, ordered a Tennessee variety from Europe; I guess things came full circle in this situation!

If you collect tomatoes like I do, go on and check it out. It's an incredible website! I have not yet germinated these seeds, and I plan to update once I have. If you don't see an update, feel free to request it! I'm a little forgetful at times.
